Hello and God Bless the USA!!!!
Well I didn't watch the inauguration but heard Motab sang and
I learned this week something really cool about them! I guess a seventy told
Sister Stephen's mom or something that when you hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
sing that you also can hear Angels singing along with them and so if you ever
have like a weird spirit with you or don't feel good or anything just turn it on
and you will feel more comfort/ Knowing that this week has helped me out
a lot as we listen to Motab. Sister Stephens said just imagine like Nephi and
Captain Moroni and cool people just singing with them and that was powerful!!!
So the work is good - we are teaching Gary who is marrying a
member in our ward and they are both in like there 60s. Gary is an ex Jehovah's
Witness so he knows a lot of info already but doesn't agree with the JWs but
knows what we share is true. We asked him to be baptized and he said yes but we
have to wait till he can get work off to come to church before we can set a
date. He has already come to church that Christmas Sunday and enjoyed it so we
will see!
So yesterday in Sacrament all of the talks were on
Missionary work and I really enjoyed one talk in particular by Sister Telford.
She talked about how she has moved a lot over the years and she has always
noticed something and that being that she needs to find good doctors, dentists,
car places, plumbers, etc that she can rely on and trust. There are a lot of
ways she can find out who is good the internet, etc but the one she normally
rely on is word of mouth by those she hasn't really even known for very long
but she trusts them. This is the same with Missionary work- when you have
questions about your Salvation you go to those you trust. I really liked that
analogy because I have seen that being a missionary and the importance trust is
in helping others listen. When I just say something like hey do you want to be
baptized? The response isn't always the best because they don't trust me yet but
as I say oh I like your shirt or just talk normal and include the gospel into
it, others are more receptive to it because the trust is there. But a lot of
times you have friends that are less active or non members that they trust you
a lot to listen to you and so when they are struggling or ask you a question it
can be a simple as saying "Well I know this is what has brought me a lot of
comfort to know..." or "I know in my life when I have turned to the
Lord..." or "Something that I believe is that..." Then just bear
your testimony on how its helped you out and they will listen because they
trust you!
Well love you all so much and hope you have a great week!
