HEY!!!!!
So the Cambo word of the
week is Klun Klee-en which means I'm hungry!
So Sister Pen was
looking through the formers and came across someone named Saruean. So he is
Cambodian and his wife is a less active member and so He had been to church 3
times and we were not sure why they stopped visiting him and so we stopped by
and set up an appointment with him because he was still interested in learning
more... so we came to the lesson with our recent convert Reny and Keven and
Leakenah joined us and then with Brother Wheelock our Ward Mission Leader. I
guess his concern for why he wasn't baptized was because of tithing and after
we cleared that up we put him on date for Sep. 17th. It was a great Lesson! So
then he came to our ward social and had a great time and then wasn't going to
come to church this week but next week for sure. well then they met this active
Cambodian Member who just got here and she was all excited that he was getting
baptized and was talking to Saruean and his wife and said that she knows the
church is true and not sure exactly what she said but it made it so Saruean and
his wife were able to come to church yesterday and they were just both so happy
and it was great that the wife was able to talk to Reny in Cambodian and be her
friend rather than just talking to Sister Pen. It is just so great!!!!!
So lately I've been
studying more about our Baptismal covenants and really loved what it said in True
to the Faith about it:
When you take upon
yourself the name of Jesus Christ, you see yourself as His. You put Him and His work first in your
life. You seek what He wants rather than
what you want or what the world teaches you to want. In the Book of Mormon, King Benjamin explains
why it is important to take the name of the Savior upon ourselves:
“There is no other name
given whereby salvation cometh; therefore, I would that ye should take upon you
the name of Christ, all you that have entered into the covenant with God that
ye should be obedient unto the end of your lives. And it shall come to pass that whosoever
doeth this shall be found at the right
hand of God, for he shall know the name by which he is called; for he
shall be called by the name of Christ.
And now it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall not take upon him
the name of Christ must be called by some other name; therefore, he that
findeth himself on the left hand of God” (Mosiah 5:8-10)
It’s
amazing that this simple line in the sacrament prayer is so powerful and
important in our lives and how this includes doing missionary work every chance
we get. I love Christ so much and Know I can always do better but that's what
the Atonement is all about right? Well love ya all and have a great week!!!
