Hey everyone!!!!!
So on St. Patrick's Day we had Park day which is when we
can't use our car so it stays in park! So we had to walk to our knocking spot
which isn't that bad and it was a Beautiful day so that was a plus! It took us
about an hour and it was great because we got to talk to quite a few people
while walking. We saw a man weeding so I went up to him and said " Hi
we're the Missionary's and we are sharing an awesome Easter video......."
He said okay awkwardly and then he said do you want to help me weed? and we
were like ya sure and he was like do you have gloves? and we were like well how
about tomorrow?...... As we walked away Sister Trost said that she is pretty
sure he is a less active and sure enough he was. When we went back he asked me
different questions like can you tell me the BoM in a few min. and I did my
best. Then he asked me to explain about the person who cuts off the arms, so I
told the story of Ammon, etc. He kept asking questions and he accepted the
answers of what I said and kindly said that he is fine that we are helping him
but he doesn't want us to come over to see him everyday, but It was an awesome
experience showing that even though he is a less active member everyone needs
the gospel in their lives.
So my Mom asked to know more about Sister Trost so here we
go! She is from North Salt Lake (which is different then Salt Lake City I
learned...) but always says she is from Bountiful because it is pretty much
right next door. She went to Woods Cross High School, and went to Dixie collage
for a year. She is the 2nd oldest out of 5 children so 4 girls and 1 boy. Loves
to swim, paint her nails, shop, and catch Jelly fish:) She is just a month
older than me which is cool. and ya!
So we have also been serving these older ladies that are
sisters from the ward, Beth and Gayle. they love a 1 min walk from us so we
tend to stop by and when we see them needing help with like groceries we help
them. But last Monday we bought some cross-stitch and embroidery patterns and
they are helping us do them and they just light up because they cant do it
anymore with there shaking hands but always show us there work from when they
could.
So I was reading is Alma 34:28 about how we must continually
pray to the Father because it is a commandment (which I really didn't know till
my mission). We must also act and serve those around us or else our prayers are
done in vain, and we will not be not as blessed as we could be if we just serve
everyone we see!
Alma 34:28 And now behold, my beloved brethren, I say unto you, do not
suppose that this is all; for after ye have done all these things, if
ye turn away the needy, and the naked, and visit not the
sick and afflicted, and impart of your substance, if ye have, to
those who stand in need—I say unto you, if ye do not any of these things,
behold, your prayer is vain, and availeth you nothing, and ye are as hypocrites who do deny the faith.
Love ya all!
